Mono Lake and the Eastern Sierra offer some of the best nature photography in North America. The Mono Lake Basin offers a diversity of landscapes unlike any other in the country. Spend from Friday afternoon through Tuesday’s sunrise with Lewis Kemper, as we work on creative techniques to take your photography to the next level. Lewis will talk about night photography, long exposure photography, HDR, panoramas, creative composition and the use of color in your images. This week is the week approaching New Moon, which means we will have very dark nights and wonderful views of the Milky Way. We will be doing lots of night photography, photographing the stars and doing light painting. Lewis will demonstrate his Polaris Smart Electric Tripod Head for star tracking as well as teaching techniques for getting the best star images with conventional equipment. October is also the time of autumn color in this region, and we will take full advantage of nature’s show. We will be photographing the stars over several locations in the Mono Lake Basin including South Tufa, Conway Ranch, and Lewis’s secret locations of Volcano and Skull Rocks.

"The Mono Lake workshop is a wonderful combination of technical and
esthetic. By expanding my photographic toolbox it has also expanded my

techniques in a clear concise fashion along with giving suggestions
for improving the composition and strength of an image." Elizabeth 2018 participant
"I went to the Mono Lake Workshop with Lewis for both the shooting opportunities and learning aspects. I was not disappointed with either! Being able to capture the Milky Way was amazing. Mono Lake and it's unique ecology with the Tufa Towers was wonderful. We shot them at sunrise and got great colors. Lewis's lessons were also practical and informative." Robert 2018 participant
