People come from all over the world to see and photograph the birds of South Florida.
And some of the best locations for bird photography are close by the Palm Beach
Photographic Centre. In this class Lewis Kemper is going to teach you how to take your
bird photography to the next level. Instead of just taking textbook images of birds we are
going to concentrate on Depth of Field, backgrounds, shutter speeds, light and shadow,
camera angle, and post processing to create artistic, captivating images of birds in their
natural habitat.
We will spend sunrise and early morning photographing birds at Wakodahatchee and
Green Cay Wetlands and the afternoons critiquing and processing our images. Each day
you will enter the field with more knowledge and experience about how to take a bird
photograph that transcends the ordinary and becomes a work of art. The techniques we
learn in this class will be useful in not only bird photography but all wildlife and nature
images as well.
In the digital darkroom we will learn techniques to making the star of your image the
most import element of the photograph. Through techniques to control the light in your
image using the local adjustment tools in Lightroom and Photoshop, including the
Graduated Filter, the Radial Filter and the Adjustment Brush, you will learn how to guide

the viewer’s eye through your photograph. We will also explore techniques for
controlling Depth of Field after the fact using layers, mask and the Blur Filter Gallery.
If you are tired of being a snapshooter and want to become a creative, artistic
photographer then this class is for you!
