I have over 5,000 images of Great Blue Herons (I know, I am a hoarder) and in that number are quite a few images of them in flight. Most all of those images are similar with birds in a position close to this.
But while I was photographing this heron, it made a sudden and rapid descent into the top of a tree, where it settled to perch.
On the way down it twisted and turned in some amazing poses. And for me created some unique images I had never captured before.
It was a lot of fun to watch!
