Summer is officially over and we are moving into fall. I know it is coming to some parts of the country much faster than here, where it is supposed to be 95 by Saturday! But no matter what your weather I hope you are having a good season and taking lots of pictures. I am gearing up for a trip back to India later in the season. One of the additions I am looking forward to carrying with me is my newly converted to infrared G15 compact camera. I had my conversion done at LifePixel in Washington. If you are interested in IR conversions go to http://www.lifepixel.com/238.html. If you use the coupon code lkir you get Priority order processing time (7 business days instead of 10-15 days, $50 value). I’ll post some images when I get back!
But just for fun I ran down to the river and made this image yesterday. I can see it is going to be a lot of fun!
In the meantime I have been experimenting with some new plugins by Topaz and MacPhun.
Topaz has created a great plugin, Impression, that allows you to turn you photos into paintings. They have lots of great presets and of course the ability to create your own presets by altering the sliders. Here are a couple of my favorites so far. Click here to see all the great Topaz products.
And if you use a Mac computer MacPhun has released Intensify Pro, Tonality Pro, Snapheal Pro and Focus 2 Pro. I haven’t used these as much, but there are some amazing presets and quick on click fixes for your photos, plus Tonality is great for converting to black and white! Beside traditional looks there are all kinds of presets for a variety of moods, textures, tones, etc. I made this conversion with just 3 clicks! To save 30% and buy all four products for just $149.99 click here.
I have been busy working on my American River project and here are a few recent images.
This week I went scouting for my October 18, 2014 San Francisco Night – The Golden Gate Bridge and Palace of Fine Arts workshop/tour. If you want to join me click here. These are some of the scenes we are going to photograph after having some pre-shooting instructions on night photography, HDR, long exposures, etc.
And last I want to announce two international trips for next year. In April I will be leading a wonderful trip to India with an emphasis on photographing tigers in the wild! We will be visiting two of the best tiger parks in India, during the best season for tiger viewing, spending several days at each giving us plenty of time to find tigers. And we have made special arrangements in both parks to offer you a full day tour instead of the normal morning and afternoon tours offered to the general public. This option is not offered by most tours. They only allow 3 vehicles to remain in the park all day with full access to each section, so our chances of having great encounters with tigers greatly increase! Also included on the trip is a visit to one of the oldest and holiest cities on earth, Varanasi. I am so excited about this trip and if you ever wanted to see wild tigers and experience magical India, then this trip will be your dream come true! For more info click here.
The other big trip is to Myanmar and Angor Wat in October. Join me to visit and photograph Bagan and its “fields of Pagodas”; Mandalay, Inlay Lake with the unique “leg-rower fisherman” and more; then spend 3 full days at Angor Wat, where we have timed the tour to be there for full moon! Come see Southeast Asia and all its beauty and mysterious treasures while learning how to take better outdoor photographs. For the full itinerary click here.
